Getting Started

How do I book a free trial class?

Booking a free trial is easy! Simply visit our website and click the "Book a Free Trial" button, or call us on 0421 859 312. We'll help you find the right class for your child's age group and schedule a time that suits your family. We encourage every new family to try before they commit, we want you to feel confident it's the right fit.

What age can my child start dancing?

We welcome children from as young as 1 year old! Our Mini Stars program is specially designed for children aged 1 through to Kindy (approximately 5 years old). Classes at this age are all about imagination, movement, and fun, no prior experience needed whatsoever.

Does my child need any prior dance experience?

Not at all. Centre Stage welcomes complete beginners at every age level. Our teachers are experienced in meeting children where they are and building their skills progressively. Whether your child has never danced or has some experience already, we'll find the right class for them.

What should my child wear to their first class?

For a trial class, comfortable clothing that allows free movement is perfect, activewear or leggings work well. Bare feet or joggers are fine for most classes. Once enrolled, we'll provide details on the suggested uniform and footwear requirements for your child's class. Our shop also stocks everything you'll need.

Classes & Programs

What classes and styles do you offer?

We offer a wide range of styles to suit every interest and age group. For our youngest dancers (Mini Stars, aged 1–Kindy) we run Ready Set Dance, Ready Set Acro and Ready Set Ballet. Junior Stars (Pre-Primary to Year 4) explore styles including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Set the Scene Acting & Singing and Acrobatics. Our Senior School (Year 5+) offers Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, and Set the Scene Acting & Singing. Whether your child wants to dance for fun or pursue it more seriously, we have something for everyone.

How do I find the right class for my child's age and level?

Our friendly staff are always happy to chat through the options. Recreational classes are grouped by school year, so your child will always be in a group that's the right fit. You can also request an information pack or reach out via phone or email and we'll personally recommend the best starting point.

Do you offer competitive or exam pathways?

Yes! For families who are interested, we offer pathways that include dance exams and competitions. However, these are entirely optional, many of our students dance purely for the joy of it, and that's absolutely celebrated here. We support every child to pursue dance at whatever level feels right for them and their family.

Do you have end-of-year concerts or performances?

Yes, our end-of-year concert is one of the highlights of the Centre Stage year! It's a wonderful opportunity for students to take the stage and showcase everything they've worked toward. This is completely optional to participate in, but we highly recommend it! Details including costume requirements, performance dates, and ticket information are shared with families well in advance each year.

Can we go into class with our child?

Our classes (except Ready Set Move) are independent, meaning parents wait outside of the class. At our Malaga studio we have a waiting room with CCTV and a watching window for parents to view classes.

Fees & Enrolment

How does enrolment work?

Enrolment is done online through our Parent Portal. Once you've chosen a class and completed a free trial, you can register your child and manage everything; payments, bookings, communications all through the portal. If you need any help getting set up, our team is always on hand to walk you through it. For information on prices, please contact us for an information pack.

How are fees charged?

Fees are charged on a per-term basis and are managed through the Parent Portal. We align closely with the Western Australian school term calendar. Full details on current fee structures are available by requesting our information pack or contacting us directly. Please reach out if you have any questions about costs.

What is your refund policy?

We understand that circumstances can change. If you need to withdraw from classes, please contact us as soon as possible. Please refer to our full policies page or contact us directly for specifics.

Policies

What is your policy if my child misses a class?

We know life is busy! If your child misses a class, please let us know in advance where possible. We offer make-up classes for our Mini Stars students- walking to Kindy (subject to availability). Contact our team to arrange this. Consistent attendance is encouraged as it helps children build confidence and progress.

How do you keep children safe?

Child safety is our highest priority. All Centre Stage staff hold current Working With Children (WWC) checks, and we operate under a comprehensive Child Safety Policy. Our studios are welcoming, supervised environments where every child is respected. You can find full details on our Child Safety & Policies page on our website.

"After researching we carefully chose Centre Stage Malaga as the dance school for our girls. We were looking for a dance place that was relaxed and child focused. Centre Stage has provided a comfortable space for my girls addressing their individual needs. Both girls have different personalities and different ways of learning and this dance studio focuses on their strengths, enabling them to dance to their potential in a nurturing environment that helps them grow in many ways. My 6 YO is more confident within herself. The dance teachers connect with the kids enhancing their potential. A special mention to Avril and Jasmine who have been a major part of our girls dancing journey. The business is run well and class availability is suited to all busy parents schedule and children needs.

Well done Centre Stage you will always be recommended by us and the dance studio of choice."

Donna C

"Our children have been going to Centre Stage for years. We love how inclusive Centre Stage is and how they are accommodating to those who don't always fit the box. The encouragement and safe space they create makes even the most shy child come out of their shell. The teachers all share the same values."
